With sports betting recently becoming legal in the United States, we’ve partnered with the experts from Total Sports Picks to share their best NFL bets each week this season.
There’s another fantastic weekend of NFL action on tap particularly on Sunday, where we have a massive 13-game slate to look forward to.
Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints (1:00pm ET)
After losing Drew Brees early in the season, the Saints have stepped up in his absence, winning their last five games in a row to give them a two win lead in the NFC South division. They have got the job done with a mix of both defense and offense over the past five weeks, putting up 30+ in three of the wins and keeping their opponents to 10 or under in the other two.
The Cardinals picked up their third win of the season in Week 7 as they downed the Giants on the road by six points. It was the run game that led the charge for Arizona as Chase Edmonds racked up 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals currently sit on the bottom of the NFC West division but are just one game out of a possible wildcard berth.
There are some rumors that Drew Brees could return to the Saints lineup for this game, which could affect the spread later in the week. New Orleans have barely put a foot wrong over the past five weeks, going 5-0 straight up and 5-0 against the spread. We like them to cover 10.5 regardless of Brees’ status.
Pick: Saints -10.5 (-110 at SugarHouse)
Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers (4:05pm ET)
The game of the day sees the 6-0 49ers hosting the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have had a great start to the season, starting 4-2 and currently sitting just two games behind the 49ers in the NFC West. Their offense has been dynamic on the back of star running back Christian McCaffrey, who is averaging more than 150 all-purpose yards per game and has found the end-zone nine times already.
The 49ers have been, without a doubt, the surprise packet of the season so far. Their defense and run game has been outstanding throughout their six games, as they have allowed just 10.7 points per game, the second fewest in the NFL. They have also racked up 172.7 rushing yards per game, which trails only the Ravens.
The 49ers start as six point favorites here, which we think is a little high given the low scoring nature of some of their games this season. While they have covered that spread in five of their six wins, the quality of opponent they have faced has been pretty avearge, as they already boast wins over Washington, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. They are 0-2 straight up in their last two games against the Panthers.
Pick: Panthers +6 (-110 at SugarHouse
Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots (4:25pm ET)
The Patriots train continued to roll in Week 7 as they shutout the Jets in a dominant performance on Monday night to move to 7-0. The Pats defense racked up five takeaways including four interceptions as they claimed a 33-0 win.
They’ll be up against another quarterback who has been extremely prone to a turnover so far this year in Baker Mayfield of the Browns. The Cleveland starting quarterback leads the league in interceptions with 11 through just six games. Cleveland will have the advantage of the extended break from their bye week heading into this game.
The Patriots start as 12.5 point favorites, which might be a little low given what happened the last time the Browns played a top tier defense. Mayfield threw two interceptions as the Browns were trounced 31-3 by the 49ers just two weeks ago, and they have covered in just one of their last four games.
Pick: Patriots -12.5 (-110 at SugarHouse
