2. Mike Davis, RB, Carolina Panthers

Christian McCaffrey was the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts this year, and he promptly played just three games as he battled multiple injuries. In stepped Davis, who even with little work in those three games McCaffrey played finished as RB15 in standard scoring and RB11 in full-PPR scoring. Start in Week 3, since he only had one carry combined in Week 1 and Week 2, and Davis was RB6 in PPR from there through Week 16.

There was no way to really replace McCaffrey. But those who drafted him and grabbed Davis off the waiver wire without hesitation were rewarded with weekly starter production most every week. That’s about the best possible scenario for those who couldn’t count on McCaffrey to be available, so Davis gets a high spot on this list.
