David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals at Kansas City Chiefs
Halfway into the season and David Johnson’s 2018 campaign hasn’t been a complete loss. He’s far from being an elite fantasy back when he’s running behind a poor offensive line and is dealing with the growing pains of a rookie quarterback. Still, he’s been an RB2/Flex play in at least six games. Owners are probably apprehensive to use him each week because he’s failed to accumulate more than 60 yards rushing in all but one game. The Cardinals are rarely in games long enough to see Johnson getting carries in the second half. But he’s one of a small handful of Cardinals who can make plays, and more importantly score touchdowns. So again, lowered expectations are recommended when talking about Johnson, but it could be worse, we could be talking about Le’Veon Bell here. So Johnson is about to face the Chiefs and this is not going to be an easy matchup given the game is away and Kansas City’s tendency to bury opponents early. But in trying to dig their way out of the hole, Johnson should get enough usage in garbage time, against this poor run defense and at least the chance for a big is there.
