Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

For the very specific fantasy owner looking for a Week 3 streamer/ goal line scorer at tight end, pickings can be slim. Thomas is not a guy that should be a typical starter. However, with the Panthers still reeling from losing Greg Olsen for at least a month, if not more, Cam Newton is figuring out who can take Olsen’s place. Thomas has some limited appeal. The Panthers’ receiving corps is not stellar. Besides Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess, Newton isn’t married to many other players. The Bengals meanwhile have allowed a tight end to score in each of the first two games, and in general, tight ends have been targeted 17 times against the Bengals through Week 2. Granted, those were against offenses that are built around the position like the Ravens and Colts but so is Carolina. Thomas just needs to shorten the learning curve. If Thomas can get at least a goal line score, and get five to six targets, he could be enough to help owners get by. He’s a sleeper in standard leagues, but has less value in PPR leagues.
