Tajae Sharpe, WR, Tennessee Titans
Sharpe went into a bye week on a high note, with season-highs across the board against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7 (seven reception for 101 yards, on nine targets). Marcus Mariota threw the ball 32 times in that game, so that was good for a 28. 1 percent target share. Over the last three games, Sharpe has gotten a 20.5 percent target share from Mariota (15 of 73).
Before missing all of last season with a foot injury, Sharpe had 41 catches and 83 targets as a rookie in 2016. That was good for a 17.1 percent target share from Mariota that season.
The upcoming schedule doesn’t look fantastic for Sharpe, with the Dallas Cowboys (Week 9), New England Patriots (Week 10), Indianapolis Colts (Week 11) and Houston Texans (Week 12) at bet mid-pack in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers entering Week 8. But the Titans are sure to be throwing a lot against the Patriots, the Colts have been more generous to the position of late and the Texans keep losing cornerbacks to injury.
Sharpe has been off the radar, and it’s easy to see his Week 7 performance as a mirage more than a breakthrough. But his role has been growing, and as no worse than Tennessee’s No. 2 wide receiver there’s value here in 12-team leagues.
