Week 7 is winding down, with Sunday and Monday night games to go. Week 8 is a relatively light bye week, with only the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens idle, but plenty of notable fantasy options will be unavailable to go along with any injury concerns.
Here are our nine early must-adds off your fantasy football waiver wire for Week 8.
Chase Edmonds, RB, Arizona Cardinals
David Johnson (ankle) started Sunday against the New York Giants, but he got just one carry before it became the Edmonds show. The second-year man out of Fordham finished with 27 carries for 126 yards and three touchdowns, along with two catches for 24 yards. With Johnson banged up, Edmonds has now put up 86, 67 and 150 total yards in the last three games with seven catches (on 10 targets) over that span. He has also scored in back-to-back games now.
From Week 8-Week 11, Edmonds (and Johnson) will face the New Orleans Saints (Week 8) San Francisco 49ers (Week 9 and Week 11) and Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers (Week 10). Those teams entered Week 7 allowing the fifth, second and third-fewest fantasy points to running back respectively (Yahoo! PPR scoring). Then the Cardinals get a bye in Week 12.
Even with those tough matchups coming, Johnson’s iffy status is enough to make Edmonds a must-own in all fantasy leagues.
