Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston went 30-for-41 for 395 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. It’s hard to get a better matchup than that, but Tampa Bay’s defense assures Winston will be throwing the ball plenty.
The Cleveland Browns are a tough matchup for Week 7, but they have allowed at least 298 yards or multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games. Some of that has been volume-driven, with Derek Carr and Joe Flacco attempting 58 and 57 passes respectively in Week 4 and Week 5, and that’s the end of the spectrum Winston will sit.
From Week 8-Week 14, the toughest matchup Winston gets is the New York Giants (Week 11), who have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in three of their last four games and by that point may he playing out the string already. The Cincinnati Bengals (Week 8), Carolina Panthers (Week 9 and Week 13), San Francisco 49ers (Week 12), New Orleans Saints (Week 14) all entered Week 6 in the bottom half of the league against quarterbacks, and the Washington Redskins (Week 10) were right on the border.
Winston has already had his bye week. With some loaded bye weeks coming, he’s sure to be a streaming option nearly every week and a push toward a low-end QB1 finish for the season is likely.
