Week 6 is nearly in the books, with Sunday and Monday night games to be completed. But with at least four teams idle in five of the next six weeks, fantasy football owners have to navigate the waiver wire to get through the teeth of bye weeks.
With regard for matchups and generally sustainable value, here are nine early must-adds from your Week 7 fantasy football waiver wire.
Hunter Henry, TE, Los Angeles Chargers
Henry missed four games due to an injury but returned on Sunday night in a big way. The tight end hauled in 8 receptions on 9 targets and finished with 100 receiving yards. Henry also found the end zone twice on the game. Factor in a 12.50 yard per catch average and you’ve got yourself a top-5 tight end sitting on the waiver wire in almost 50% of fantasy football leagues.
The dearth of viable fantasy tight ends makes Henry a must-add now that he’s healthy, but he also has a favorable set of matchups coming. The Tennessee Titans (Week 7), Chicago Bears (Week 8), Oakland Raiders (Week 10) and Kansas City Chiefs (Week 11) entered Week 6 allowing the fifth, 12th, eighth and ninth-most fantasy points to tight ends respectively (Yahoo! scoring). All four are allowing target volume from tight ends in the bottom-12 of the league (as in, among the most targets) as well. Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers is a tough matchup, but that has the makings of a high-scoring game.
Henry’s ownership rates are sure to skyrocket this week. If the owner that drafted him in your league didn’t (or couldn’t) hold him through his injury recovery, go get him right now.
