Trey Lance, QB , San Francisco 49ers

Lance didn’t light it up through the air against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday (15-for-29 for 192 yards with an interception), but he didn’t really have to in a 17-10 loss. As expected, he added production with his legs (89 yards on 16 carries).

Heading into a Week 6 bye, the 49ers are saying Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) will get the starting job back when he’s healthy. But we’ve been here before with the Bears and Justin Fields, before Matt Nagy came to his senses and named Fields the starter until further notice.

Garoppolo might be ready to go for Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts. Or he might not be. His next injury is always lurking around the corner anyway, and that’s all it’d take for Lance to get and keep the starting job for the rest of the season. The rookie signal caller is an easy stash in leagues with 12 or more teams, and an easy must-add in two-quarterback leagues where he remains available.
