Chris Herndon, TE, New York Jets

The Jets’ Week 4 bye will delay Herndon’s return from a four-game suspension, but that just means there’s a far better chance he won’t have to catch passes from Luke Falk as Sam Darnold (mono/spleen) seems to have a good chance to return in Week 6.

From Week 9-Week 17 last season, Herndon was TE12 in full-point PPR scoring. Widen that out to Week 6, and he was TE9 in full-point PPR from there to Week 17. Three of those 11 games came when Darnold was out injured.

Five of Herndon’s first seven games come against teams who entered Week 5 in the bottom half of the league against tight ends (Yahoo! scoring). Assuming a full complement of snaps right off the bat, coupled with Darnold’s return, Herndon’s TE1 upside is still pretty freely available on the waiver wire this week as he returns from suspension.
