Week 5 is nearly in the books, and the ongoing process for fantasy football owners to really take stock of their rosters and shed the dead weight continues. The waiver wire is the best way to seize those opportunities, churn depth and hopefully unearth some difference-making gems.
Here are our nine early must-adds from your fantasy football waiver wire for Week 6.
Kirk Cousins, QB, Minnesota Vikings
After a tumultuous week where he was essentially called out by one of his top wide receivers and the other did nothing to dismiss the idea he wants out, Cousins went 22-for-27 for 306 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants on Sunday. A very favorable matchup has to be taken into account, but more of that ilk are coming for the Vikings’ signal caller.
Minnesota’s next four opponents, the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs, all entered Week 5 in the bottom half of the league against quarterbacks (Yahoo! scoring). Going further, the Eagles (fifth-most fantasy points allowed), Redskins (fourth-most fantasy points allowed) and Chiefs (eighth-most fantasy points allowed) came into the week in the bottom-eight against quarterbacks.
Through some tough upcoming bye weeks, Cousins is poised to deliver QB1 numbers. Now is the time to get back on the fantasy bandwagon.
