Tyler Kroft, TE, Cincinnati Bengals
Tyler Eifert looked good in Week 3 (six catches for 74 yards) and he had a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. But he left the game with what looked to be a season-ending right leg/ankle injury, and it was confirmed later on Sunday to be a broken ankle.
Kroft did not register a catch on Sunday, as fellow tight end C.J. Uzomah did instead. But Kroft would be the preferred option to replace Eifert atop the depth chart. He had 42 receptions for 404 yards and seven touchdowns last season, with most of that production coming in the 14 games Eifert missed as Kroft finished as TE15 in ESPN leagues (PPR scoring).
The lack of depth at tight end this year puts Kroft on the fantasy radar with Eifert done for the year. Owners in deeper PPR leagues should have particular interest, but Kroft’s red zone involvement in 2017 was interesting too.
