T.J. Yeldon, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Leonard Fournette returned to action against the New York Jets on Sunday, and he was headed for a big workload with 12 touches in middle of the second quarter. But he left the game with a hamstring issue and did not return, at least due in part to the Jaguars having a comfortable lead, and Yeldon stepped in with 100 total yards on 21 touches (18 carries) with a receiving touchdown.
Fournette’s status for next week against the Kansas City Chiefs has to be considered up in the air. So Yeldon could get the start against a Chiefs’ defense that entered Week 4 allowing the most fantasy points to running backs (38.8 per game; ESPN PPR scoring). Even a workload split with a potentially limited Fournette would put Yeldon on the flex radar in 12 and 14-team leagues.
Fournette owners in deeper leagues can consider adding Yeldon (again?) as a priority handcuff. But there’s some standalone potential here too, if you’re a Fournette owner or not.
