Two weeks of the new NFL season are almost complete, so fantasy football owners can start to turn an eye toward Week 3. The waiver wire is always a viable way to bolster a roster, particularly as bye weeks start to become a thing soon.
Here are our nine early must-adds off your Week 3 fantasy football waiver wire.
Giovani Bernard, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Bernard hasn’t done much through two games, with seven carries for 25 yards and five catches for 26 yards. But most of that came in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, and with Joe Mixon (knee surgery) expected to miss 2-4 weeks Bernard will operate as Cincinnati’s lead back.
Bernard’s opponents the next two week, Week 3 (Carolina Panthers and Week 4 (Atlanta Falcons), aren’t necessarily great matchups, but the Falcons have been vulnerable to pass-catching running backs of Bernard’s ilk. Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins and Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers look like middle of the road matchups. Extending out to Week 7, a week beyond Mixon’s return timetable, a favorable matchup is on the slate against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Based purely on his role over the next month in an offense that seems to be rolling, Bernard should be one of the top waiver wire adds this week.
