James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
With Le’Veon Bell officially absent, Conner stepped into the lead role and delivered 31 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns along with five catches (on six targets) for 57 yards against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Conner is not as talented as Bell, but he was a capable workhorse when healthy in college at Pitt and the Steelers clearly believe in him as an every-down back in Bell’s absence.
The unpredictability of Bell’s situation clouds Conner’s fantasy outlook for the season. But as a practical matter he should be owned in all leagues, and he’s not there yet
