Kenneth Gainwell, RB , Philadelphia Eagles

Gainwell clearly operated as the Eagles’ No. 2 back Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, with nine carries for 37 yards and a touchdown along with two catches for six yards (on three targets). Meanwhile, Boston Scott did not play an offensive snap.

Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers is not a great matchup for the Eagles’ running backs. However, the Detroit Lions‘ top two backs (D’Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams) both had a touchdown with over 100 total yards on Sunday. With a nod to being in comeback mode, Swift and Williams each had eight catches in the game too.

Part of the angle here is Miles Sanders having a tenuous hold on the lead back role for Philadelphia. Gainwell could encroach on his snap share quickly, and fantasy managers who add the rookie now will have a starting running back on their roster.
