Tyrell Williams, WR, Oakland Raiders
Even with the presence of Antonio Brown as a fellow offseason acquisition for the Raiders, it was easy to be optimistic about Williams’ fantasy prospects. Of course now, after some back and forth regarding his status, Brown is gone.
Oakland has the most vacated targets from 2018, with 356 (via ESPN’s Field Yates). Brown was in line to step into a big chunk of those, but now he’s out. Among wide receivers with at least 250 targets over the last three seasons, Williams is fourth in yards per target (9.64), behind Julio Jones, Tyreek Hill and Brandin Cooks.
Williams is now clearly Oakland’s No. 1 wide receiver. When he functioned as that for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2016, after Keenan Allen suffered a torn ACL in Week 1, he had 69 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns on his way to finishing as WR13 in standard scoring.
The Raiders have yet to play Week 1, as they’re the late game Monday night against the Denver Broncos. But now is the time to get Williams, while he’s still underowned.
