Elijah McGuire, RB, New York Jets
McGuire had 18 carries for 42 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans in Week 15, along with three catches for 29 yards. With Bilal Powell (neck) and now Isaiah Crowell (foot) on IR, McGuire has become the last-man standing in the Jets’ backfield with 35 carries and 41 touches over the last two games.
At first glance it’s not a great matchup for McGuire in Week 16, as the Green Bay Packers entered Week 15 in the top half of the league against running backs (ESPN PPR scoring). But they’ve allowed multiple touchdowns to the position in two of their last three games, and 4.5 yards per carry to running backs for the season.
Much of McGuire’s fantasy appeal is rooted in volume which has finally come since he returned from a foot injury in Week 9. Don’t overlook him as a RB2 in Week 16, or in Week 17 should that matter to you.
