Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns
Mayfield was efficient (18-for-22) and prolific (238 yards, 10.8 yards per attempt) against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. He only had one passing touchdown for the second straight game, but did not throw an interception after throwing three in Week 13.
Week 15 wouldn’t seem to be a good matchup for Mayfield. But the Denver Broncos have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in four of their last six games, with over 300 passing yards allowed four times in that span as well.
Mayfield is a preemptive add in some respects too, with the Cincinnati Bengals coming in Week 16. The Bengals entered Week 14 allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks (ESPN scoring), and Mayfield ripped them for 258 yards and four touchdowns back in Week 12.
Mayfield didn’t deliver big numbers for fantasy owners in Week 14, which stands to keep his ownership rates stagnant. However, that just creates an ongoing opportunity to add a low-end QB1 for two important playoff weeks.
