Theo Riddick, RB, Detroit Lions
Riddick had five receptions for 30 yards against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, and he now has 18 catches (on 22 targets) over three games since coming back from a knee injury. The trade of Golden Tate coincided with that return to action, and Lions’ wide receiver Marvin Jones (knee) missed Sunday’s game.
Kerryon Johnson left Sunday’s game early with a left knee injury, and with a short turnaround before a Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Bears he might be iffy to play all week. Riddick won’t take over any significant part of the rushing load Johnson may leave behind, but his snap count could rise and the only way running backs have really beaten the Bears this year is through the air (5.9 receptions per game entering Week 11).
After Week 12, matchups against the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings provide an angle for Riddick to be heavily involved as a pass catcher. As a RB3 or flex in PPR leagues from here on out, Riddick has a solid floor with some measure of upside.
