Salvon Ahmed, RB, Miami Dolphins

With Myles Gaskin (knee) on IR, Matt Breida (hamstring) out again and Jordan Howard a healthy scratch again, Ahmed had 21 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown (with one catch for five yards) Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. He also led Dolphins running backs in snaps in Week 9, which yielded 38 yards on seven carries.

Week 11 against the Denver Broncos does not look like a great matchup. But Raiders running backs Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker combined for 219 total yards and four rushing touchdowns in Week 9. The Dolphins don’t seem to want Tua Tagovailoa airing it out much, so as the lead back Ahmed feels like a lock for 15-20 carries.

Ahmed lead role may be short-lived. But assuming Breida can get healthy is a slippery slope, and Gaskin coming off IR as soon as he can’t be assumed. Keep an eye on the status of others, but on the idea he sustains value going forward Ahmed is well worth adding in leagues with 12 or more teams.
