Derrius Guice, RB, Washington Redskins

Guice got 13 touches in Week 1, before a knee injury that got him placed on IR. He’s set to return in Week 11 as Washington comes out of their bye.

Bill Callahan immediately declared he wanted to run the ball more when he was installed as Redskins’ interim head coach, and Adrian Peterson’s workload over the last four games (75 carries) has put the proof in the pudding. Peterson also has at least 76 yards on the ground in all four games.

As a losing season winds down, the Redskins have to see what they have in Guice. A bad offense piloted by a rookie quarterback limits everyone’s fantasy value, but a run-oriented approach is good news for Guice in a broad sense.

There may be enough work to keep Peterson afloat and fantasy relevant (53 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues; 57.4 percent owned in ESPN leagues). But any workload split has to favor Guice as long as he’s healthy, if the Redskins move in a logical direction. That latter point obviously can’t be assumed, but Guice is roster-worthy in all leagues with upside to become at least a weekly flex option.
