The 2017 NFL season is 13 weeks old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Mike Davis, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Yahoo! Ownership: 9%
Mike Davis wasn’t exactly eased into action as the Seahawks lead back in his first game back from a groin injury. Davis owned the position, seeing 73 percent of the snaps at running back and turned in a decent performance. Davis ran 16 times for 64 yards and added 4 receptions for another 37 yards against one of the leagues top run-stopping defensive units. Barring a setback from his injury, Davis should keep a stranglehold on the Seahawks feature back duties until Chris Carson can return which isn’t really expected during regular season play.
There are no tough matchups to worry about for Davis and he even gets a peach in Week 15 against the Rams who have given up the second most fantasy points to running backs this season. The combination of Davis’ usage in the passing game and running game and the fact that all other active running backs are completely unable to produce make it hard to put Davis outside of the RB2 conversation. Finding a gem of a running back off of waivers right before the fantasy playoffs could be a lifesaver for any team.
