In Bruno Boys expanding coverage into fantasy sports, the Court Scene will be breaking down the fantasy basketball season on a weekly basis to advise you on who to add on your fantasy roster in both the frontcourt and backcourt. There are lots of players to consider but only a few who are really worth the effort to change your rotation and be fantasy worthy.
Finding quality big men and clutch guards in the waiver wire is like watching sand slip down an hourglass, at some point they just run out. It’s important to keep informed on not only which players are available on the long run, but also in the short run in certain scenarios as injuries and starting lineups shift all the time. So be sure to come here every week, whether you’re using this article to fill out your DraftKings daily fantasy rosters or looking for that next gem to help you in your season-long league for the present and future.
Here’s this week’s group of forwards and centers worth adding to your fantasy basketball team.
Luol Deng, SF/PF, Miami Heat
Deng is owned in over 60% of Yahoo leagues but just 25% in ESPN leagues. That’s a lot of owners missing out on the tear that he’s doing since getting the nod for more playing time with Chris Bosch going down again with an undisclosed health condition. Even though he’s nursing a dislocated finger, Deng is a necessary waiver wire add if he’s available in your league. Since the All-Star break, Deng has been averaging 37 minutes over the last three games and is averaging 18 shots per game (with 51% FGM), with double-digit rebounds and with a pocket full of steals and assists each night. These are bumps up from his 10.3 ppg and 5.2 rpg season-long averages. There’s no word or clue as to when Bosh will return or if he will at all. Until then, Deng has stepped in to fill his big shoes.
Up ahead: 2/24 vs. Golden State Warriors, 2/27 @ Boston Celtics, 2/28 @ New York Knicks, 3/1 vs. Chicago Bulls, 3/3 vs. Phoenix Suns, 3/4 @ Philadelphia 76ers, 3/6 vs Philadelphia 76ers
