Arizona Cardinals president Michael Bidwill believes wide receiver John Brown will revert back to his old form in 2017. “He is very healthy, looks like they found the issue,†Bidwill said via ArizonaSports.com. “We’ll get Smoke back the way we had him.â€Brown, who dealt with a rare sickle-cell trait last season, is expected to return to his old form in 2017, per reports. The veteran wideout had off year in 2016 because of the disorder. Although he played in 15 games, he was “not himself” for the majority of them and only accumulated a 39-517-2 stat line in those contests. Unless the Cardinals bring in a wideout to compete for Brown’s spot, he will likely enter the season as the team’s No. 3 receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald and J.J. Nelson. However, I wouldn’t sleep on Jaron Brown making a run at an expanded role next season. In a 2016 campaign in which he showed promise—he caught 11 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown before being placed on IR with an ACL injury in Week 8—Brown could have done enough to garner consideration for John Brown’s presumed job at the three.
