Aldrick Rosas, signed to a reserve/future contract in the off-season, nailed two field goals in the Giants’ pre-season opener on Friday night against the Steelers, one of which was a 52-yarder. Rosas has impressed the Giants’ coaching staff in the off-season and drawn high praise. His performance on Friday did nothing to dissuade the Giants from naming the 22-year old as the starting K for 2017. Rosas will need a strong pre-season to nail down the job as kicker for the Giants, primarily due to his lack of NFL experience. The Giants did also sign 35-year old veteran Mike Nugent (who was also 2-for-2 on FG attempts in the pre-season opener) to give Rosas some competition. Assuming Rosas beats out Nugent, he could be a solid fantasy K in 2017 given his strong leg.
