The NFL season is 1 week old and with bye weeks still going you need to be on top of making your fantasy football waiver wire claims for the upcoming week. Every year there are a handful of players that come out of nowhere to have big opening weeks and turn into fantasy gold throughout the season. With that in mind we bring to you seven players that fantasy owners should immediately try to get on their teams in Week 2.


Tarik Cohen, RB, Chicago Bears

Cohen was something of a deep sleeper this preseason, but no one could have expected his Week 1 performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Along with five carries for 66 yards, the rookie out of North Carolina A&T had eight receptions (on a team-high 12 targets) for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Injuries to Cameron Meredith (knee) during the preseason and Kevin White (collarbone) on Sunday leaves the Bears thin at wide receiver, and Cohen almost had as many touches as No. 1 running back Jordan Howard (16) against Atlanta.

Cohen is sure to be one of the most popular waiver wire adds this week, but since he’s coming from essentially being undrafted there’s plenty of opportunity to get him. Particularly in PPR leagues, he looks like a season-long asset.
