Each week we will be looking at players whose value is looking to take a serious hit that you should consider selling on the trade market. It’s easy to get attached to players based on name value, but in a game determined by numbers, sometimes you need to read between the lines and realize when it’s time to jump ship and get the most out of your investment. Selling guys who are trending down can be a slippery slope where you may never be completely happy with your return, but sometimes you need to get what you can and call it a loss before there is no value left at all.
Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Freeman looks ready to return from a concussion that held him out recently, but what type of player will we be seeing? Freeman is shaping up as a bit of a bust compared to preseason draft price. Freeman hasn’t found the end zone since Week 4 of this season and to make matters worse, Tevin Coleman has been a stud in Freeman’s absence. It was always known that Freeman would be siphoning touches from Freeman this season, but after suffering another concussion, it is hard to see Freeman regaining full-on feature back duties this season. The remaining schedule does Freeman no favors as he sees the Vikings league leading run defense this week and gets 2 matchups against the Saints who have ranked in the top-10 for least points allowed to RBs this season. After starting the season as a near elite RB1, Freeman is hard to trust as more than a touchdown dependent RB2 going forward.
