Drafting your fantasy football team is the easy part, now comes the hard part, knowing who and when to start your players on any given week. Sure, it’s easy to decide what to do with your studs, but at Bruno Boys Fantasy Football, we concentrate on giving our readers start and sit advice about players who are lower down the rankings. If you assembled your team on the strength of positions other than the one we’re highlighting in this article, chances are you have players where you have to consider the best matchups, the skill players around them, the strength of the opposing defense and their health. Here are our recommendations on who to start.
Charles Clay, TE, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Clay has caught fire over the last three weeks of the season. After not scoring a touchdown through 13 weeks, the tight end has found the end zone in three straight games. He’s also catching a ton of footballs during his recent surge. Clay had 8 receptions for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns in a Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins and the tight end has 15 receptions over his last two games.
While Clay is nursing a hamstring injury he is expected to play in Week 17 against the New York Jets. There is some concern that Tyrod Taylor won’t play, and Clay will have to catch passes from E.J. Manuel but fantasy owners should ride out his hot hand. The Jets rank 28th in the NFL at defending the tight end position and have given up 10 receptions for 96 yards and 4 touchdowns to the position over their last two gams. They also surrendered 3 receiving touchdowns to the tight end slot in Week 13. Take advantage of the matchup and get Clay into your lineup. — Marc Caviglia
