The 2016 NFL season is just one month old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in over the first few weeks of the season and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire Wide Receivers for Week 5.
Steve Smith Sr, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Owned in 63% of Yahoo Leagues
Steve Smith is officially back. He made our list last week, and went off again this week. He caught eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders. He’s 37 years old, but he showed that he still has speed on his 52-yard touchdown catch. Mike Wallace has slowed down after a hot start, and Smith has emerged as the top receiver for the Ravens.

The Ravens get the Washington Redskins next, and a tough matchup with Josh Norman awaits, but overall the Redskins are 25th in pass defense, and the week after they get the New York Giants, who are 14th. He needs to be added in all leagues. If you need a receiver and he’s available, put in a waiver request immediately. —Christoph Ludwig
