Here is our list of the top-15 players (in order) that fantasy football owners should target on their Week 16 fantasy football waiver wire. We are looking for a combination of long-term and short-term value when putting together this list. If a player has a big game one week it doesn’t mean his rest of season (ROS) value is through the roof.
The guys we recommend are those who we think will either post a few big games for you or be consistent from the time you snag them until the end of the fantasy football season.
J.J. Nelson, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Michael Floyd’s DUI arrest and subsequent release last week by the Cardinals opened a door to opportunity for Nelson. He stepped through it against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, with five receptions (on 11 targets) for 38 yards and a touchdown. If not for a drop of a potential 56-yard touchdown, Nelson’s numbers would have been better.
The Cardinals should start getting a long look at younger players over the final two weeks, and Nelson fits that bill. He gets one tough matchup (Seattle Seahawks-Week 16) and one nice matchup (Los Angeles Rams-Week 17), but the potential for double-digit targets raises Nelson’s fantasy floor.
Nelson is nothing more than a WR3 for Week 16, and it might be hard to start him confidently in either of the final two weeks. But he is trending the right direction, which at least makes Nelson worth a look in 12 and 14-team leagues. — Brad Berreman
