We are all well aware of the Michael Vick saga, ad nauseum. He did the crime, he did the time and now he’s out on the streets. My question is this: Why is the NFL, or at least certain factions of the NFL, so adamant about getting him reinstated?

We have Tony Dungy bending over backwards trying to get this punk attached to a team even though the majority of the teams are trying to distant themselves from Vick. Add to this people like Jesse Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Al Sharpton, et al, trying to imply that if Vick fails to find a team, it will be a blow to civil rights. There is always that tacit racial bent to any story like this which angers me to no end.

Again, does the hubbub around Vick’s big comeback strike you as overkill?

And now this. Jesse Jackson compares Michael Vick and his struggles to Jackie Robinson. This just keeps getting better.

Michael Who?

In my opinion Vick was never a great quarterback and he never will be. Yes, he might have made some great plays with his legs and might have had a big time arm (not sure how it is after missing 2 seasons) but his inaccuracies as a passing quarterback heavily outweigh his speed.

Being fast will only get you so far as an NFL quarterback, but managing football games, being an accurate passer and producing under pressure is what wins Super Bowls. Vick hasn’t shown me any of the big three.

As for his comeback to the NFL, I am all for it, but I try not to look into all the hype surrounding it. I just worry about providing the Bruno Boys Nation with fantasy football advice! And my advice to you is DON’T DRAFT MIKE VICK!

Sound Good?

My thoughts exactly. He never struck me a a top-tier QB, more like a back-up running back who could throw the ball a bit. He was hard to defend with his evasive running skills. Makes one wonder if he applied said skills in the prison shower.

I am one of the ones who is STRONGLY against Vick’s return to the NFL. Yes he wasn’t a great QB, but what he was great at was selling jerseys. You could go into just about any market and see Vick stuff. I believe that is what the NFL is once again hoping for. My problem with his return is the simple fact that if I went to jail for what he did (or anything for that matter) I wouldn’t be welcomed with a million + contract to return when I got out. It would be hard for me to find a job period as companies wouldn’t be lining up to bring me on board. That is a fact of real life. I don’t feel that he ‘learned’ anything while he was away. I think he just feels sorry that he got caught.

If Vick were to donate his salary this season to fund Animal Shelters around the US or help to bring down dog fighting rings….then I would feel better to support him. I don’t believe we need this guy as its just a matter of time before he gets in trouble for something else again. It runs in the family. Let some other young player have that amazing opportunity that it is to play in the NFL.

Thats just my opinion!
