I know this is a fantasy football forum but with the MLB pennant races heating up I thought it would be nice to get some baseball discussion for you die-hard MLB fans out there.
With that in mind tell me who your favorite MLB team is?
Also, do you follow your team everyday or just check the box scores online to see the outcome?

San Francisco Giants. Born and raised in the Bay Area and have always been a die-hard Giants fan. I make it out to Pac Bell Park about 20-25 times per year to watch the Giants play.

Die-Hard fan to say the least. I just about follow every pitch of every game and analyze every move that is made throughout the season being that I played baseball through college. Like I said in my staff biography, football is the sport I enjoy writing about and researching but baseball is the sport that I grew up playing and will always be my favorite.
i’m a cubs fan through and through. Normally i try to watch them more but this year they are just pissing me off… they can’t hit worth $hit , they’re always getting hurt , and they make stupid moves, like picking up Milton Bradley instead of Raul Ibanez
Rub it in some more Kearnsy, as my lowly Giants haven’t one one in years. 2002 I thought was the year but the choke job against the Angels is still bitter.
Do you like the Yankees chances of winning the AL this year? Should be a tight race down to the finish. Gotta love pennant races and playoff baseball
My dad is from the Bronx. He chuckles at me being a Lions fan, thinks I’ll snap out of it one day and convert to Big Blue. As far as baseball goes, Dad’s passion for the Yakees rubbed off on me early. Being from CT, a good portion of Moms family are Red Sox fans. It was quite a 4th of July picnic in 83(I was 11) when Rags no hit Boston. Radio on in the back yard. Good times!

For some of us.
I bet that was a great 4th of July picnic. I was not even one year old at the time but I have watched a replay of that game. Being a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan I enjoy watching anything Rags.
So with the Yankees taking the first three over Boston and having a 5.5 game lead do you think they can hang on and finally win the division.
P.S - I HATE the Red Sox with a passion. Not sure why, but I always have.
A Brewers fan here. I actually went to the playoff game they won last season. First playoff game at Miller Park. The atmosphere was amazing, easily rivaling Lambeau Field.
No postseason this year though. Starting pitching is WAY too weak…
my main team is the Reds, though seconds include the Astros and Blue Jays.
I try to watch as many Reds games as I can, even if it’s only portions of them. I enjoy MLB almost as much as the NFL so watching a game (or at least part of one) each day is something I like to do.

Cory,
Interesting choice of teams. Being that you are from Ohio I can see you liking the Reds, but what draws you to the Houston Astros and especially the Toronto Blue Jays?
Was it that you had favorite payers growing up that played for those teams? Let us know!
Also, what is your take on the Reds franchise. It seems like they are far away from turning the page and being a serious contender despite always having some pre-season hype. At 50-66 and sporting a team batting average of .241 the Reds are just not getting the job done.

I could only imagine what the atmosphere was like at Miller Park for the first playoff game. I went to a 3-game series in 2007 when Barry Bonds was chasing home run No. 756 and the place was crazy. The tailgating at a Brewers’ game is second to none from what I have experienced so far.
Also, Water Street has some good food and great bars. A trip to Milwaukee is definitely one I would make again to watch some basebal.
Also, I agree with you about the Brew Crew pitching staff. You aren’t going to win many ball games with a 4.87 staff ERA and a WHIP of almost 1.5.
Well I am from Detroit so I am a Tigers fan! I am a die hard who watches every second of every game. If I know that I am not going to be home for a game (which I try to not allow to happen) then I just DVR it and watch it later. Football is of course my favorite sport still, but during baseball season every game is like a playoff game for me because I get so into it. I don’t know where that came from as I used to not care about the sport…but in the last few seasons I have not missed a game.
I am just hoping that we hang on till the finish line as it would be nice to win the division. I don’t expect much in the playoffs, but I just want to get there!

Not a Tigers’ fan but I must admit Curtis Granderson is one of my favorite players in the American League. I am not sure what has happened to his Batting Average but he combines great speed with solid power and is just fun to watch on the base paths and in the field. It looks like he is starting to find his swing again - having four extra base hits in the last four games. Combine his production with Miguel Cabrera’s MVP type season and you have a solid 1-2 punch in the post season (now only if Magglio can figure it out and earn his contract).
Best of Luck to the Tigers’ the rest of the way as it looks like the Twins’ are once again surging.
Man my Phils can’t close out games. Maybe I shouldn’t be complaining since we did get the win tonight, and we are 7 games up in the division, but the 9th inning has been a real tough inning for us this year. I guess us Phillies’ fans were spoiled last year with Lidge’s perfect season.
On a side note, Howard is really starting to turn it on. He can really carry this team during the last couple months of the season.

If you want to repeat, Lidge cannot be in that role. It really bothers me that Manuel is still standing by him while he continues to blow leads. Get him some reps in the 6th and 7th and then throw him back into pressure situations when he has proven he can get players out…
While I agree that Lidge isn’t performing, I think if the Phils want to have a shot of repeating, Lidge needs to be their closer. Earlier in the season while Lidge was out Madson was given the job. He blew 4 saves in that short period of time and the rest of the bullpen was shuffled around. And as a result of the shuffling, the bullpen really struggled. Now that everyone is back pitching in their accustomed roles, the bullpen (except for Lidge) is thriving. However, maybe Manuel did make a mistake pitching him 4 days in a row. He had pitched well against the Mets for the most part, and I think he should have given Lidge the day off on Tuesday.
Baseball players really are mental. They want to be in their “comfort zones”. That’s why I think Madson needs to stay in his 8th inning role and Lidge needs to regain his form. If Myers can come back healthy, that would be the only other option that I think Charlie would consider.
