hey all, i have my neighborhood league live draft tonight and have found out that it has swelled to 14 people.  so, with that in mind who are some deep league WR / RB to keep an eye out for?  Also, my strategy has been fluid between RB / WR and when to grab a QB.  any pointers would be helpful.  my history in the league is 3rd / 1st / 3rd and last year i lost in the semi by 0.33 pts and then took most points in week 16…!

WRs:

James Jones (GB)
Louis Murphy (OAK)
Mike Williams (TB), though his stock is rising quickly.
and actually, lets throw Mike Williams (SEA) out there too. Pete Carroll loves him from their college days together and he’s been active in preseason. But he was also out of the league for two years so this is a DEEP flyer.
Laurent Robinson (STL)
Does Jabar Gaffney (DEN) still count? Not sure anymore.
Legadu Nanee (SD)

RBs:

Kareem Huggins (TB)
Ryan Torain (WAS)
Issac Redman (PIT)
Chris Ivory (NO)

these RBs are really deep and more like guys that need something to happen before they have value. Much easier to find quality sleeper WRs late than RBs.

Its too bad your draft isn’t a couple days from now, I’ll be releasing a deep RB sleeper column soon.

for now, try these if you haven’t already:

Dunno if i’m too late or not but with 14 peeps, RBs are key….I would get 2 RBs and 1 WR with my first 3 picks…then QB or WR…if you go QB, then WR,RB…If you go WR, then go RB,WR/QB, WR/QB (whichever one you didnt get the round before)...some deep sleepers are mike williams on TB, Berrian could be good, Get malcolm floyd for the chargers in round 7 or so if he’s still there…Some say Huggins and RB for TB is a deep sleeper…Burlseon, Gresham at TE…David Buehler kicker… aromashodu should be available later in the draft around rounds 10 or 11 i would think…hope this helps and was in time

How did the draft go? I wasn’t at my comp so couldn’t add anything. I’m in a 14 team league and grabbed Torain as a sleeper at RB and Mike Williams SEA as a sleeper at WR

ok, here’s how it went.  i was 6 / 14 in picking rank

qb - cutler / garrard
wr - fitzgerald / boldin / meachem / burleson / m williams (tb) / k walter
rb - turner / moreno / k smith / f jackson
te - winslow
k - akers
def - philly

anyone you think i should drop?  areas to improve?  i was frantic to also try to organize bye weeks (as a recommendation for next year i would put bye weeks on the bboys cheat sheets.)  i didn’t know about jackson injury problems so was thinking about dropping someone to pick up huggins?  anyone else you think it is better to ditch now?

You know which players are obviously strong so i’ll focus on what is not so strong. I don’t really like Garrard. Are there better options such as Alex Smith, Matt Cassell, Stafford? Also i don’t like Kevin Walter. He us slipping and is in danger of dropping to the third receiver on his team. Kevin Smith is a risk to get cut. I don’t think he will get cut but that just shows that Jahvid Best is the show there. Fred Jackson is in a three-man-backfield so his production will be far less than what it has been before.

That’s rough but Bernard Scott should be picked up right away. Its up to you as to who you want to drop. I personally would drop Walter

i will see if he’s still around after the waiver drops sundays.  i am first on the waiver pick so want to keep that until after week 1 results.

on a completely different note i floated out there a fitzgerald / boldin / moreno trade for anquan boldin / wells trade.  we’ll see if they think its worth the 2 for 3.  would bolster my wr’s and not weaken my rb’s too much

What are you trading? I’m not sure i understand. You’re trading Fitz, Boldin and Moreno for Boldin and Wells?
