Just an update…new reports are surfacing from Jones-Drews’ agent Adisa Bakari that the Pro-Bowl running back did not have arthroscopic surgery. Bakari told The Associated Press that the Jags are resting MJD for precautionary reasons. He said that Jacksonville needs him during the regular season and that playing him now could only hurt the team. In fact, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio plans to sit most of his starters in the preseason finale on Thursday, September 2. With the spate of recent injuries in preseason games - some season-ending, Del Rio’s decision seems reasonable and might turn out to be the smartest one he makes all season.
We’ll keep you posted if any new developments occur…for now it seems that Jones-Drew will be ready to roll in Week 1 after all. Draft him with confidence if you have the chance.
