While I think Berrian starts the season at the No. 2 spot, there’s no guarantee he’ll stay there. I think this is a good situation for Camarillo - much better than Miami where he would compete for Marshall’s scraps against Davone Bess and Brian Hartline. There was also talk that the Dolphins would cut Camarillo - the guy whose overtime touchdown catch against the Ravens saved the Dolphins from on 0-16 season in 2007. Hey it’s not personal…it’s business!
I also believe that even with the migraines, Percy Harvin will be the recipient of some of the balls that would have gone to Sidney Rice and maybe an additional 300-350 yards. Should Rice miss the entire season, Camarillo could potentially split the rest of what would have been Rice’s stats with Berrian regardless of whether he’s the WR2 or WR3. At this point, I don’t expect much from Javon Walker despite the fact that his most productive seasons were with Favre in Green Bay. That was then, this is now. Walker caught 41 passes and one touchdown in the last three years. We’ll have to see what happens.
In terms of immediate fantasy value, I think Camarillo is probably a better value in deeper leagues (14-16-plus teams) where you are always looking for guys in the late middle rounds or later rounds of the draft who will see a decent amount of playing time. I have Camarillo on my cheat sheet as quality WR4/WR5. My initial projection is around 800 yards and 5 or 6 touchdowns. That said, Camarillo doesn’t drop many balls (last year he caught everything thrown his way - 50 receptions), he’s a good route runner, and is best-suited out of the slot. If he develops chemistry with Favre, the fourth-year Camarillo could have his most productive season yet. We’ll get to see which team got the better deal in Week 3 when the Vikings play the Dolphins at Mall of America Field.
