IMO, Sanchez and Orton would leave you really weak at a key position. You are strong at RB with Johnson as your one and I think Mathews is a better 2 than Wells (who isn’t the official starter yet). WR is always a position you can have wins on the waiver wire. I would make the trade and keep a close eye on training camps to see if someone is coming up strong.

Make the trade. Matthews and Charles will be good 2 and 3 after CJ. McNabb will make your QB position respectable. You can drop someone and get a waiver pick but you have to be on top of it because solid ones tend to be gone by week 5 and they don’t always come every week. Maybe you can make a straight up trade of Charles for a WR to a team that is weak on the receiver end

I say make the trade, if only because McNabb looks like a major QB upgrade, and you have nice RB depth. I agree that you can find WR depth on the waiver wire, though Holmes 4-game suspension is a concern until he returns.

Nice trade for your team.

CJ, Matthews and JC is a sick RB trio.

Fitz isn’t as rock-solid this year with Anderson instead of Warner and without defenses having to pay attention to Boldin.  Converting him to McNabb and getting JC at the same time is a definite upgrade, in my opinion.

I guess im the only one to say dont make the trade.  There has to be someone else willing to trade a better Qb for fitzgerald.  Who knows how well mcnabb plays this season on a new team..Could be better could be worse.

While being very aware that Brandon Marshal has left town…I’d point out that Orton threw for 3,800 yds and 21TDs…whereas McNabb threw for 3,500/22…and its not as though McNabb hasnt had a major downgrade at WR as well (plus he seems much older than his 34 years

While I am also very high on Charles and worried about Fitz’ QB’s…this will leave you quite thin at WR

I’d pass

I don’t like this trade one bit. You are giving up two top-20 players overall in exchange for one top-20 guy and a quarterback that is in a run first offense, and arguably past his prime.  If you trade Fitz you are going to have to rely on Dwayne Bowe and a bunch of unprovens (outside of Santonio Holmes) to man your two WR spots.  The ONLY way i would consider that trade is if I received a solid WR in return that can be a weekly starter. If not, I would play match-ups with Sanchez, Orton and whatever else is on the waiver wire.

Being weak at one position doesn’t mean you should give up someone to the magnitude of Fitz (bad offense or not) for a middle of the road QB.

Ask yourself this… Which lineup would you rather have…

Sanchez/Orton
CJ, Mathews
Fitz, Bowe
Wells
Finley

or

McNabb
CJ, Matthews
Bowe and Doucet/Thomas/Holmes (after suspension)
Charles
Finley

In my opinion it’s lineup No.1

That’s an interesting perspective…

Perhaps there is someone out there willing to upgrade his QB slot a little more for Fitz, but I doubt that trade would also include a JC-calibur RB.

Based solely on the trade details given and not knowing any other possible offers, I would support the move.
