Top players on current roster…

Tom Brady (current keeper)
Anquan Boldin (current keeper)

I am looking for some feedback on who I should or should not keep for the 2010 season.  Thanks for your feedback guys!

Can you keep the same player 2 years in a row?  If so I’d go Brady/Greene

Limation10 - First things first, I noticed this was your first post and you just recently signed up for a Bruno Boys account!  Thanks for signing up and we look forward to helping your fantasy football team!  How did this squad finish in 2009?

Now onto keepers…After looking over the five possibilities the first guy you have to keep is Tom Brady. Whether it’s a 4 or 6 points per passing touchdown Brady is the top option you have available and he will enter 2010 as a top 7 fantasy football quarterback. The loss of Wes Welker until probably late October.November does hurt his value some, but not enough to downgrade him to non-keeper status (based on your other options).

As for your second keeper I’d lean towards Shonn GreeneThomas Jones is no lock to return to New York in 2010 and even if he does Greene should see enough touches to have great success in just his second season.  After watching him break out in the 2009 playoffs there is no doubt in my mind that the Jets will feature him next season. Greene has fresh legs, good speed, power and most importantly will be running behind an “elite” offensive line that is full of Pro Bowl blockers. With the Jets built to run (and committed to it) I can see Greene playing as a solid RB2 option throughout his first season as a regular.

I’d imagine you don’t have to submit your keepers until closer to draft day and a lot can change over the course of 4-5 months but as of right now that’s who I’d keep. With it being a non PPR league and your roster allowing you to start 2 RBs and can Flex another this is the best route to go.

Hope this helps and please let us know what you are leaning towards.

Thanks guys.  Yes, I can keep current “keepers” and was leaning towards Brady for sure.  Was on the fence with Greene but favoring him.  We do have time before submitting and will keep tabs on the preseason, etc.

I did finish 10th in a 14 team league.  Too many teams if you ask me but it is what it is.  Talent is slim pickings.

Thanks for the replies.  Look forward to sharpening my “fantasy” pencil a bit with the help of the Bruno Boys.

Limitation 10 - No problem. We love helping other fantasy football owners out and just talking football in general. After watching Shonn Greene run wild in the playoffs and Thomas Jones future in New York being in question there is no doubt in my mind he is the guy to keep.  Now if in a few months Jones resigns with the Jets that does change the overall landscape but I still feel the Jets run the ball enough for Greene to be a valuable fantasy RB2.  Anquan Boldin and Steve Smith are tempting but they don’t offer the upside that Greene does and both of them are wide outs currently on teams with no legitimate threat at quarterback

We look forward to talking fantasy with you throughout the year!

Does the addition of LT to the Jets limit what Shonn Green can accomplish in New York?  Not sure if Boldin to the Ravens changes anything?  Thoughts?

I was thinking about trying to grab Greene this year myself. But…I’ve heard he’s terrible at catching the ball out of the backfield….a quality I really like in a RB. Is he that bad?

BTW, I can keep three players..I plan to keep MJD, A. Johnson, and M. Austin. You’ll see the team I ended-up with in my signature, but hey, don’t laugh. I won my league, and this was my first year to play. Needless to say, the other guys in my league (who have all been playing for years), wished many nasty things to befall me, and look forward to stomping the “Beginner’s Luck” out of my carcass this year.
