My Dynasty League FA starts tonight and here is the list i can choose from. Do you guys see any moves i should make? Remember i would have to drop a player for a FA or give up a 3rd round pick depending on the player. I have (2) 3rd round picks this year. My roster is @ the bottom. Thanks

FA
Fred Taylor
Ryan Moats
Le’Ron McClain
Gartrell Johnson (NYG)
Jamal Lewis
Ganther
L. Hamilton
E.Graham
Andre Brown (NYG)

Servo - Let me go ahead and give you a quick analysis of each player available in terms of a dynasty league. From there you can do what you want with it….

Fred Davis - I like Davis a lot but Cooley is returning and your current tight ends (Witten, Finley, Carlson) have more immediate and long term value.

Jason Snelling - I’m tempted by Snelling. At times he showed signs of being able to produce when filling in for Michael Turner. However, I wouldn’t dump him for any of your RBs and the only guys I’d considering dumping for him is Chris Chambers or Mike Thomas.

Fred Taylor - Over the hill. Not the type of player you want to snag in a Dynasty league.

Trent Edwards - No guarantees the job is his in Buffalo and did nothing but disappoint in 2009.

Ryan Moats - Marginal value at best. Will never be a true starter and enters 2010 behind Foster and Slaton.

Le’Ron McClain - Lack of opportunity in 2009 led to his decreased value. Good around the RZ but not worthy of a roster spot.

Plaxico Burress - There could be some value but it’s likely to come in 2011 because Burress is in jail and won’t be ready to go in 2010.

Earl Bennett - You own Knox and Aromashadu and with Mike Martz as the OC this offense will be even more pass happy in 2010. Hard to predict which wide out gets the secondary targets behind Devin Hester in 2010. I like Aromashadu and Knox’s upside more than Bennett.

3rd round tender FA (I would give up a 3rd round pick this year)

Justin Fargas  - Not worth giving up a 3rd round pick for in 2010. He is behind Bush and McFadden entering 2010.

Josh Morgan - Didn’t really pan out as planned in 2009 but still has some value and the 49ers passing offense should be better next season. I like him more than Mike Thomas, Chris Chambers (long term value) and to a certain extent Johnny Knox.  What type of talent do you forecast being available in the 3rd round of your rookie/free agent draft?

Ted Ginn - Bust. Had flashes of turning the corner in 2009 but the Dolphins will continue to run the ball until Ricky retires and Brown ends his career due to injury. Not even the best wide out on his team.

Justin Gage - No thanks. A touchdown here, a touchdown there and not much else. He’s reached his ceiling and you don’t want to snag players like that in Dynasty Leagues.

I hope this helps you get a better idea of my thoughts on the available players in your Dynasty League and based on your current roster the most drop able players are…

Mike Thomas, Chris Chambers, Johnny Knox, Rashard Jennings, Mike Bell, Julius Jones, LenDale White.

However, I feel that only Josh Morgan and Jason Snelling are worth considering making a transaction for.

Keep us posted on what you end up doing…

So far i signed Josh Morgan and Plaxico Burress. Snelling was taken by another team. I still need to sign another Rb, do you have any suggestions?? Thank you so much for giving such detail advice, that was a great help for me.

I updated the FA list.

Servo - I like the signing of Josh Morgan in exchange for a third round pick in your dynasty rookie draft. Like I said, Morgan is talented and the 49ers offense should be improved in 2010. Alex Smith impressed me enough over the last 10 weeks of the season to be a believer in the 49ers offense next year.

As for the signing of Plaxico Burress to your roster I can’t say that I’m thrilled with it but I guess it depends on who you dumped to acquire him.  Who was it?

Finally, none of those running backs jump out at me as being hot commodities in dynasty formats but if I had to take a gamble on someone it would be Andre Brown (NYG). He is big, explosive, has solid speed and I’m not entirely sold on the Giants backfield of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. It might not be immediately but Brown is a guy worth sitting on for 1-2 years and seeing what can be made of it.

With Plaxico i had a open roster spot due to the fact i lost Brian Robiskie to FA. So far i have lost 3 of the 6 players i have put up for FA, the other teams are starting to piss me off. I will put a claim on Andre Brown for my last open spot unless another player gets taken tonight. Thanks again.

Not sure I like the Plaxico Burress signing but with it being a deep league I suppose you can wait around for a few years and see if he ever comes back. Too bad you lost Brian Robiskie... he has upside though I’m not sold on the Cleveland offense and his speed is somewhat of a question in my mind.

You mentioned you lost three of six players to the Free Agent pool. I know one of them is Robiskie but who were the other two swooped off your keeper league team?

Glad I can help!

Servo - Glad you were able to snag Andre Brown off of your leagues wire. As I stated above about Brown, it could take him a few years to develop (or get a legitimate chance to produce) but I like his upside and feel he’s a guy that could work out long-term.  The beauty of dynasty leagues is that you can gamble on players future worth doesn’t work out you can cut bait at anytime. I’m a firm believer that in dynasty leagues you should always build your team to win “now” but make sure you stockpile for the future. Nothing worse than owning a bunch of Brian Westbrook’s and LaDainian Tomlinson’s in a dynasty league (which sadly I own both in one of my expert leagues).

Keep us posted on the final roster leading up to the rookie draft.  What pick do you have in that draft?
