I know both will have a good game but I would like to hear what others think as far as who will do better. I just picked up Celek and have him on my bench…for now. Any advice is welcome.

Hmmm…Im normaly a stats kind of guy…But I think you can throw out main stream thinking on this one.  Its really a crap shoot.  You have a 50-50 chance of picking the right one.  They both should have a good game but I cant give any concrete reason as to which will do better.  Its going to come down to whose desperate more and no stat is going to show that.

I look at it THIS way….Your keeping Celek off the playing field from your opponent.  At the minimum your doing a defensive move.  Not sure why he was even in a free agent pool.  Its like finding Aaron Rodgers sitting out there.

Well…to be honest, our TE spot is a TE/ WR spot. Most have chosen to go with a WR there. Not really sure why most have not thought about a tight end there due to a good few of them being just as productive as WR’s. Especially in a PPR league.

tough one. Witten has screwed me all year in one league while Celek has been my hero after a week 1 waiver wire pick up.
I’m for Celek

Then Id say Witten has a slight edge in a PPR league….Need to find it ....But there is a target list that shows total targets and you can break it down by position.  I believe Witten is ahead of Celek in targets….

Again..its a tough week but both are probably going to be productive.  Least you removed him from the waiver wire…If your going to be wrong, dont let someone else pick him up!

Excellent advice to keep whoever I dont play. I did go back and look at stats and Witten has approx 20 more catches on the year but Celek has a hell of alot more touchdowns. I think I will go with Celek. I think the Eagles are going to explode in this game and the Cowboys are going to do everything in their power to keep up. It wont be a blowout….but it will be a shootout. Thats just my gut feeling. Stats are as follows:
Witten targets:117 w/ 88 receptions =75% (1 TD all year)
Celek targets: 103 w/ 69 receptions = 67% (8 TDs all year)

With both teams putting as much urgency on this game as they will be, I still think Celek is the best choice. Being frequented in the inzone is more important than the receptions I believe.

You can make a case for both Celek and Witten and it boils down to who you feel more comfortable using but based on your scoring system (PPR) and the Eagles inability to defend the TE position I’d use Jason Witten. He has been running more intermediate routes and Romo has been finding him in space. This has resulted in three 100-yard games over his last five. In a previous meeting against Philly, Witten had just 43 yards but it was on seven receptions which is always nice in a PPR league.

You are correct when you say Celek is the better TD threat and getting the quick six points are important but in a league that rewards a full point per reception and at the rate Witten has been rolling, in terms of yardage and receptions lately, I;d have trouble benching him.

Make no mistake, Celek isn’t a joke and has been the better of the two tight ends in 2009 and if you decide to roll with him it’s more than justified but I wanted to make sure I chimed in my two cents on your dilemma.

Thanks to you all for all the advice and opinions. Well…its do or die. Most of the time, when I have a close call like this one, I just flip a coin and let fantasy football fate decide. lol I guess this is as good a time as any. Witten has won the toss. Wish me luck!  grrr
