I’ve been offered T.Jones and S.Homes for Ryan Grant. I dislike both those players, but feel I might be dismissing them too quickly. Is there value to be had here, or should I hang on to the semi-stud?

Standard scoring, Starters = QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, DST

Here is my team:

STARTERS                     BENCH
Tom Brady                   Donovan McNabb
(NE - QB)                    (Phi - QB)

Larry Fitzgerald           Isaac Bruce
(Ari - WR)                    (SF - WR)

Chad Ochocinco           Jeremy Maclin
(Cin - WR)                  (Phi - WR)

Percy Harvin               Jermichael Finley
(Min - WR)                  (GB - TE)

Ryan Grant                 Felix Jones
(GB - RB)                    (Dal - RB)

Darren McFadden       LenDale White
(Oak - RB)                  (Ten - RB)

Brent Celek                 Leon Washington
(Phi - TE)                    (NYJ - RB)

K
Ryan Longwell

DST
Green Bay

THOUGHTS
Are my third receiver and bench WRs good enough to get me through the season or would Homes give me enough of an upgrade at the 3rd WR spot to compensate the difference in points from the RB downgrade

My other thought is to offer Felix Jones for Homes since Jones is the most expendable RB on my roster according to how my RB’s schedules line up

Any opinions?

Hmm that is interesting.

If this is a standard scoring league I think you should do it.

Of course we all know Grant is a stud RB and should net you some good points this season. But Jones is not far off of Grant. Jones and Grant both should score about the same fantasy points throughout the season. Right now I have Grant projected to score an average of 2 to 3 fantasy points more per week than Jones. So you are not loosing to much in the RB game. You will however get a huge gain in your receiving core. Homes is a huge upgrade over Harvin, Bruce and Maclin. In fact I have him projected to score more points this season than Ocho Stinko.

Thats my opinion anyway. The only thing I don’t like about it is having both T.J. and Leon on the same team. You also are hoping that McFadden lives up to his potential this season.

I’ll agree that this is interesting. To play devil’s advocate, if I look solely at your roster, you seem to be stronger at WR than RB. If you trade Grant, you’re left with Jones and McFadden as starters. The biggest problem with that is I don’t see Jones remaining the starter for the whole year. You have Washington, which mitigates that risk, but why trade for Jones at all knowing he has a good shot of riding the pine by mid season?

The real question here is the gain in Holmes over your existing receivers vs the downgrade from Grant to Jones. You might get a couple extra points per game from Holmes, but especially toward the end of the season, you’ll have traded a solid 12-13 point per game back for a guy who is likely to be sitting on your bench.

If it were me, I’d pass.

Thanks, appreciate the input. My gut instinct tells me I can find a receiver through the season who can put up 3rd wr stats, but the chance of finding a low end RB1 would be alot tougher.
I’m offering the guy Felix Jones, even though I love his upside, straight up for Holmes and seeing if he bites.
Actually, as old as Bruce is, I think he is in a good situation to out up wr3 stats (for most of the season at least)
He’s a starter, has a shootout schedule, and Crabtree will be healing up and learning the playbook all year when he signs (imo)

Once again, thank you both for your help!
