Nice analysis gents. There were a lot of good value picks in the draft and like most drafts this year, top WRs went quick. Everyone drafted very smart as expected.

The 6th pick can be a tough one but I feel pretty good about the result of my team. As Greg mentioned, my team needs to stay healthy. Let’s be honest, my team icon should be the red cross symbol there are so many injury concerns. Still, I think I have enough back ups to protect myself.

My one regret is getting carried away and taking Crabtree with my 2nd to last pick when I should have backed up my TE or gotten a 3rd QB. It was late on the east coast and I always try to end a draft with a player with big upside.

Here is my team from last night’s draft.

QB- Matt Schaub
RB- Steven Jackson
RB- Marion Barber
WR- Roddy White
WR- Braylon Edwards
WR- Lee Evans
TE-  Owen Daniels
K- Robbie Gould
D/ST- Vikings
B- Jonathan Stewart
B- Chris Henry
B- Tim Hightower
B- Hakeem Nicks
B- Jake Delhomme
B- Laurence Maroney
B- Michael Crabtree

My obvious weakness is wide receiver in which I only have Marques Colston as a true #1. Although if for some miracle reason Brandon Marshall pulls his head out of his butt I can sport 2 WR1’s most weeks. My other 3 wide receivers, Muhsin Muhammad, Chris Chambers and Jeremy Maclin will vie for my WR3 position. The success at this position though lies in the hands of Marshall. This could be a solid strength or major weakness.

My strengths though is my depth at both, quarterback and running back. For QB I can play the matchups between Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer and Brett Favre serves as a solid QB3 in case of injuries to the top 2. For running ack I have a top RB in Michael Turner, a top RB2 in Ryan Grant, another RB2 for my RB3 in Ray Rice and I round out my last two running back slots with Julius Jones (starter in Seattle) and Chester Taylor who always gets a handful of points and is good trade bait if Peterson gets hurt.

My tight end is Jeremy Shockey; a definite wildcard. But with the loss of Billy Miller, Shockey has a shot at bouncing back to be a nice TE1. As far as my kicker goes a dome kicker that kicks for a high powered offense.

My defense will be waiver wire additions throughout the year. For week one I grabbed the Seahawks against the St. Louis Rams. A DST1 worthy play if you ask me.

All in all, if Marshall steps up and Maclin has a solid rookie season then my WR’s become pretty solid and I feel the rest of my team minus the DST are all strong/deep enough to keep me in the position to succeed. Of course, it is relying heavily on a wide receiver who is very unhappy and a rookie that may not get enough looks. There is always trading if need be.

QB- Jay Cutler
RB- Michael Tuner
RB- Ryan Grant
WR- Marques Colston
WR- Brandon Marshall
WR- Muhsin Muhammad
TE-  Jeremy Shockey
K- Ryan Longwell
D/ST- Seahawks
B- Ray Rice
B- Julius Jones
B- Chester Taylor
B- Carson Palmer
B- Brett Favre
B- Chris Chambers
B- Jeremy Maclin

I feel pretty good about my team and I really like my starting lineup. I see a lot of potential in my bench, but not a whole lot of production right off the bat. Chris Wells should be good but he isn’t the starter so it will be interesting to see how many touches he gets. I like that I have two of the top defenses, and hopefully I can use that to my advantage to swing a trade for some bench help.

my team (7th pick):
QB - Donovan McNabb
RB - Chris Johnson
RB - Kevin Smith
WR - Wes Welker
WR - Chad Ochocinco
WR - Santana Moss
TE - John Carlson
D/ST - Pittsburgh Steelers

BN - Joe Flacco
BN - Chris Wells
BN - Shonn Greene
BN - Justin Fargas
BN - Miles Austin
BN - Michael Jenkins
BN - Philadelphia Eagles D/ST
