According to NFL.com, current kick returner / wide receiver, Josh Cribbs, for the Cleveland Browns will not play in 2009 under his current contract. Thus, unless the two sides can come to an agreement on a new deal, Cribbs is expected to holdout even into the regular season.
Bruno Boys Take: Normally, news about a wide receiver who caught just two balls in 2008 wouldn’t really be newsworthy, but Cribbs does hold a flicker of fantasy relevance thanks to the wildcat offense. In fact, Cribbs had 27 more rush attempts than he did receptions last season as he tallied 167 yards and a score thanks to the wildcat formation. However, for all of those fantasy owners looking at Cribbs as a potential sleeper in 2009 due to his legs, it might be best to wait and see how his contract negotiations play out before taking a late-round flier on the wide out. Chances are if you do, he’ll still be available on the waiver wire come week one.
