I’m posting this because I was pretty high on Pierre Thomas and was giving a lot of advice on him here in the forums. I just saw this stuff in some other sources right now…
- “...I talked about how Saints RB Pierre Thomas could be in danger of losing at least some of the workload to RB Mike Bell this week.
Well, it could be more than we thought.
Thomas was limited in Wednesday’s practice with an injured ankle. Considering the fact that the Saints are coming off a bye, this is a little worrisome.
Bell, who has missed time with an injured knee, was able to return to a full practice and looks set to go against the Giants.
Part of the reason there have been reports about a shared backfield is that there have been questions about Thomas’ durability. He’s already missed a few games this season with a knee problem, and now this new ankle ailment has surfaced.
If you’re a Thomas owner, it’s time to pick up Bell off the waiver wire as insurance.”
and
- “With Mike Bell healthy coming off a bye week, the Saints’ will deploy a healthy trio of Thomas, Bell, and Reggie Bush for the first time all year, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Recommendation: Coach Sean Payton is known to ride the hot hand during game days. With Thomas tearing up opposing defenses the past few weeks, he will likely see the bulk of the carries against a tough Giants’ defense Sunday. However, Bell and Bush will certainly get some touches, and Bell may even be deployed as a short-yardage and goal line specialist. As of now, only Payton knows how he plans on utilizing his stable of running backs in the coming weeks.”
