I have Sanchez at the moment and will probably play him this week and next (decent matchups). Flacco, Bradford, Orton and pretty much everyone else ranked below them are available. I’ll probably jump on one of those three and dump Sanchez eventually.

Agree on Sanchez the next few weeks and some solid matchups. I think he gets it done against Dallas this week.  Any wiggle room on your roster to grab Bradford for Week 4 against Washington? I like his matchup better than Sanchez and the available signal callers that week.

Bradford is probably my first pick unless Orton starts lighting it up again and there’s no sign up the backups. If I were to snag him now I’d have to drop S. Rice, Ingram, or M. Thomas from the bench. It’s an 8 team PPR so we’re all pretty stacked otherwise.

In case anyone was still holding out hope, it was confirmed today that Manning will not start in week 1. Ready those back-ups!

Yeah it will be interesting to see how soon he returns or how long people hold onto him if he doesn’t soon. My plan this year was to skip QBs early and take two up-and-coming guys and play match-ups, but I couldn’t pass on him in the 6th. Having so few roster spots in this league may force me to drop him if he’s not back before the bye week shuffle.

I just got this and hope it’s not true!  Pasted below:

“Hi Folks,
The latest on Colts QB Peyton Manning. Jake Query, a radio host on WNDE in
Indianapolis is reporting that sources are telling him that Peyton Manning
is out for the year.
Query posted this on his twitter feed today:
“What I (Query) said: A source I consider reliable told me he is out for the
season. I do believe that the actual diagnosis is still being determined”
Query then followed that with: “I (Query) was also told the 3rd procedure has
taken place, either Sun or Monday.”
Understand that this is not official by any stretch. This is a radio host in
Indianapolis (that I don’t know much about) saying this is what his sources
are telling him.
It certainly fits with the worse case scenarios we’ve been envisioning but it
should be stressed that we have no facts or words from the Colts to back this up.
It’s also worth noting that the Colts and Bill Polian are going to be the absolute
last people on earth to tell us this.
My gut feel is that I’d positively let someone else take the chance on Manning at
just about any price right now. I know some are saying now is the time to scoop
him up for pennies. I’m not one of those guys.
This is perhaps not related in any way shape or form, but I think it’s worth
understanding that Peyton’s older brother, Cooper, quit football after it was
discovered he had a congenital spine issue. I’m NOT saying Peyton has the same
issue. But I am saying Cooper’s issue is something he thinks about as he plans
his future. It would be impossible for it not to be considered for him.

Wow, that’s unreal. I hope it’s not true for his own sake more than FF.

Well.. it’s getting worse

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen confirms that Peyton Manning underwent cervical fusion surgery on his neck Thursday morning.
Manning’s recovery timetable is 2-3 months at minimum. Per Mort, there’s no word yet on the possibility of injured reserve.

I know a guy, who is not a pro athlete, that had this done. He wasn’t back to 90% for about 6 months and still doesn’t feel 100% to this day. I wish him a speedy recovery. Time to consider plan B.

At this point I’m trying to trade him to some sucker in my league.  He’ll be out at least 2-3 months and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was out the whole season now.  Info pasted below:

“Peyton Manning undergoes surgery

Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning (neck) underwent cervical fusion surgery Thursday, Sept. 8, and will need at least two to three months to recover. It is not known if Manning will be placed on Injured Reserve.
Fantasy Tip: At this point it’s probably safe to sever ties with Manning in shallow leagues. Stash him in deeper leagues, though. This is the second procedure this year and third overall, so it likely ensures that Manning won’t be back this year, especially if the team tanks under Kerry Collins. Collins isn’t an ideal fantasy option at age 38, but Manning owners have to at least consider the possibility now. ”

Doh.. he’s still on the can’t cut list for now. Hopefully Flacco is still there once I can drop him. I decided on him over Orton and Bradford… for now.
