Poll: What should be done with the 2005 Heisman Trophy?

Former USC star Reggie Bush issued a statement today (Tuesday, September 14) through the New Orleans Saints that he is voluntarily returning the 2005 Heisman Trophy. He is the first athlete in the Heisman’s 75-year history to forfeit the award. Vote in our poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did. Thanks!

2010 College Football Season

The season officially starts today with there being a full slate of games. Thought it would be fun to see who everyone on the Forum roots for? Also, it would be nice to talk some college football on a weekly basis….

Does anyone play in a college fantasy football leagues? I am in one again this year, hosted by CBS. It’s a West Coast league, meaning you can only pick players from the Pac 10, Mountain West and WAC conferences.

Enjoy football on Saturdays, because while doing so you might be watching a future NFL fantasy football stud.

Lane Kiffin leaves Tennessee. Will replace Pete Carroll at USC

After just one year at University of Tennessee, head coach Lane Kiffin will leave the Volunteers football program and become the head coach at University of Southern California. Kiffin led the Vols to a a Peach Bowl loss to Virgina Tech and a 7-6 finish in his lone season. With former USC coach Pete Carroll leaving to become the new coach off the Seattle Seahawks, Kiffin felt it was a great opportunity to return to the school that he served as a coordinator at before leaving for an NFL job of his own. This will mark the third head coaching job in a three year span for Kiffin.

In his lone year at Tennessee, Kiffin did nothing to make friends around college football and this move should only make things worse. My question to you is….

Do you think Kiffin can keep the USC Football program on the pedestal that Carroll developed? Or will it not be an as tempting place to play college football for the young recruits?

BCS National Title Game - Alabama vs. Texas

After four months of college football we have finally reached the Bowl Season and have our two teams that will be playing for the National Title.

Who wins this match-up between Alabama and Texas?

Some of the keys to the game will be if Texas can shutdown RB Mark Ingram from Bama as well as if Bama can shutdown QB Colt McCoy of Texas.

Should be a good one….

PS - I wish Texas would have lost so that a 12-0 TCU team could have had a shot at the National Title but that didn’t happen.

Your Heisman Trophy Pick

Later tonight they will announce the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner in College Football and I was wondering who gets your vote?

The finalist’s for the aware are:

Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford
Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
Ndamukong Suh, DE, Nebraska

My choice is Toby Gerhart. He carried that Stanford team on his back all season long and was the most consistent player in the nation from start to finish,. Plus, it’s tough to argue against 1,736 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns in just 12 games.

It should be an interesting Saturday Night to see who wins the award. Best of Luck to all five players in the running.

Who Will Play for the National Title

Unless Alabama loses to Auburn or Florida loses to Florida State we know the winner of the SEC Title game between Alabama and Florida will be one of the teams going for the National Title.

Also, we know that if Texas beats Team A&M this week and Nebraska in the Big 12 Title game they will go to the National Title Game.

However, with it being College Football and knowing anything can happen do you think TCU or Cincinnati somehow back-door their way into the BCS National Title Game?

I have watched all six undefeated teams (including Boise State) play 4-5 times this year and I really think that TCU very well could be the best team in the nation.

What are the thoughts in the Forum? Will we see an SEC vs Big 12 National Tittle Game or is a curveball thrown and one of the other unbeaten teams get’s in.

Finally, we know Boise St. is a longshot to play for the title, but do you think they will get into a BCS game provided they beat Nevada on Friday.

As you can tell I am a big fan of college football and I would love to get everyone’s take on this.

Good game thus far. It’s currently 16-13 UT over OU with about 13 minutes left. Looks like a game that should go down to the wire. I am not a fan of either team but would like to see OU win as I like it when the BCS rankings are in flux every year.

With our college football section in the Forum being just about dead I wanted to wake it up. So all you college football fans out there get to posting!

We are less than two weeks away from the start of the college football season and I wanted to go ahead and post the Preseason Polls. It’s always nice to look back on these at the end of the year and see how wrong the AP and Coaches actually are at predicting rank. I guess they need a starting point but I still don’t look much into preseason rankings at the college level.

Saban signs extension

Coach Saban signed an extension today through 2017. He made the comment that he plans to retire from Alabama. I have had my problems with Saban but I will say the man can coach and get some big time ballers. I just hope he honors the contract (unless he starts losing…..lol)

Can the University of Florida Repeat?

After beating up on University of Oklahoma in last years BCS Championship Game many college football experts like University of Florida to repeat, but can they?

With the return of quarterback Tim Tebow you’d have to like their chances but winning back-to-back National Titles is a difficult feat and you better believe everyone is gunning for the Gators.

Can Florida repeat or will we see a new National Champ crowned in 2009?

In my opinion USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State and Penn State once again have the talent to give Florida a run for their money. Plus, we know there are always 1-2 darkhorses that will be in the picture at the end of the season.

It should be an exciting 2009 College Football season
