The 2018 NFL season is just eight weeks old and time is running out to start picking up people from your fantasy football waiver wire. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire tight ends for Week 9.
Jack Doyle, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Doyle finally returned after missing five games with a hip injury, and he had six catches for a team-high 70 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Eric Ebron and Mo Alie-Cox also caught touchdowns from Andrew Luck, but Doyle is back as a prominent part of the Colts’ tight end mix and passing game.
Indianapolis has their bye in Week 9, then Week 10 and Week 11 are against the top two fantasy defenses against tight ends entering Week 8 (Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans). But Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins looks promising, as they’ve now allowed five tight end touchdowns over their last three games with multiple touchdown games from Michael Roberts and Jordan Thomas in their last two.
The dearth of good tight end options makes Doyle a practical must-add even heading into a bye. Some challenging matchups are coming, but he’s in line to be a TE1 in 12-team leagues down the stretch.
