The 2018 NFL season is seven weeks old and the time is now to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.

Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire running backs for Week 8.

Raheem Mostert, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Much to the chagrin of ESPN’s Matthew Berry, Alfred Morris ceded virtually all his snaps to Mostert in Week 6 and he delivered a surprising 87 yards on 12 carries. Then with Matt Breida continuing to deal with a bad ankle in Week 7, Mostert finished with seven carries for 59 yards and four catches for 19 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

Next up for San Francisco is a bad Arizona Cardinals run defense that has allowed 4.6 yards per carry to running backs this year. With Breida possibly out and Morris only factoring back in last week due to Breida playing five snaps in the game, Mostert is in line for a big role in a very good matchup. Then favorable matchups against the Oakland Raiders and New York Giants, who both sit in the bottom half of the league against running backs, are coming in Week 9 and Week 10.

Breida’s status is worth keeping an eye on, but Mostert should be added in leagues with 12 or more teams. If Breida misses multiple games and the nine carries Morris got in Week 7 shift elsewhere, Mostert will have low-end RB2 upside.
