Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks

After not seeing an offensive snap in Week 5, Penny had nine carries for 43 yards and two catches for 27 yards against the Oakland Raiders. It’s worth wondering if the game situation in a 27-3 loss gave the rookie an extended opportunity, but it’s still noteworthy that Penny had more touches than Mike Davis (seven) and almost as many as Chris Carson (14).

The Seahawks have their post-London game bye in Week 7, but it can be assumed they drafted Penny in the first round of April’s draft with some plan to use him before a preseason finger injury threw that off course. With the injury behind him and any lingering conditioning issues surely gone too, he may start to step into the role originally envisioned for him.

Seattle’s running back situation is obviously crowded, and patently unpredictable. But Penny is well worth an add-and-stash this week in 12 and 14-team leagues, with the prospect of a big role after the bye.
