The 2018 NFL season is just five weeks old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire tight ends for Week 6.
Greg Olsen, TE Carolina Panthers
After breaking his right foot again in Week 1, Olsen was expected to miss significant time again. But he returned to practice this past week, and he’s in line to return Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.
Prior to breaking his foot the first time and missing nine games last year, Olsen was a top-8 fantasy tight end for five straight seasons and a top-10 fantasy tight end in seven of the previous nine seasons. Even at an advanced age, health-permitting of course, Olsen will step right back into being a prominent target for Cam Newton.
More clarity on Olsen’s Week 6 status should come at some point during the coming week. But he’s a must-stash in any league where he’s available, even if he misses one more game or may be on a snap count his first couple games back.
